Laminate looks very similar to wood, and most designs are copies of naturally occurring wood. However there is no actual wood as we know it in the product. Laminate is a pressed material that creates a hard surface flooring material. We recommend that laminate be used in the place of wood in any room to provide a flowing and warm appearance. Laminate can be used for different levels of foot traffic from light to heavy and even pet traffic. Most Laminates have somewhere between ten (10) year and Thirty (30) year warranty, often this is dependent on the manufacture.
There is a significant cost savings over wood.
Installation of the laminate is often quicker than most wood products and individual planks can be replaced without taking apart the entire flooring surface.
We do recommend self-installation as a way to reduce cost.
Want a classic floor that is also modern, your choice is a wood floor . Wood gives a house a warmer appearance as well as giving a house a flowing appearance. Care is a little more intensive than laminate, but wood often keeps it appearance much longer. Cost ranges from mid to high range, but we will work hard to keep the prices down. Our customers are most often satisfied when they choose a wood floor.
Wood is used mostly as general term for many different types of hard flooring surfaces that are all made with varied amounts and types of wood.
Solid hardwood is cut from a solid plank of wood and is able to be installed, and stained to other colors. Solid hard wood is mostly cut from oak, but may be made of other woods that are able to withstand that years of traffic. Solid hardwood is often the most expensive to purchase and install, but once installed solid hardwood may last a lifetime with proper care.
Engineered wood is sometimes considered hardwood, but if viewed from the edge you can see a few distinct layers within a plank. After installation it would be difficult to distinguish between engineered wood and solid hardwood; however the life of engineered wood is often not over twenty years. There is a cost savings by using engineered wood versus solid hardwood or bamboo.
Bamboo is a relatively new type of floor; it offers a brighter appearance then most of the other wood products. This can be used to brighten a dark room, or if there are many windows created a space that appears larger. Bamboo is also considered a sustainable product because of how fast the bamboo plant grows. Pricing of bamboo is similar to that of solid hardwood.
